I have an Estate Plan – does it need to be updated?

While there is no general rule of thumb as to how often an Estate Plan should be updated, I tell my valued clients that they should make an appointment to see me whenever something significant happens in their lives – birth of a child or a grand-child, retirement, inheritance, as a few example.

One of the most common questions I get is along the lines of: “our Wills are 25 years old, should they be reviewed by a professional?” The answer is simple – YES!

Just as as our lives continue to change, our Estate Plan does need to be amended to keep up with the changes in our life. This does not mean constant revision – that would be too much work!
